Origin of the Fire District
In early February of 1908 a petition to establish a fire district was presented to the Erie County Board of Supervisors.
Fire District No. 1 of the Town of Amherst was established on March 10, 1908 and consisted of a three member Board unitl January 1, 1934 when it expanded to a five member Board.
The Fire District continued its municipal transition and changed the name from Fire District No. 1 of the Town of Amherst to Eggertsville Fire District on February 17, 1972.
